Father’s Day is just around the corner. The bond between father and children never fades, no matter how much the time and trends change. Father’s Day is a family event with faher being the focus point. This is a special day children can thank their dad in a special way for standing by their side and offering their support at all times. Honor your dad this father’s day with any of the ideas listed below or think of something creative and surprise him.

Cool gifts for dads. Check out the special deals on Amazon or eBay. Most of the gifts are more than 25% off. You can offer him a coupon from these sites or ask him to select a gift of his choice and order it for him.

Lunch or Dinner. What more fun than going out with family for lunch or dinner and spoil your dad with all the attention he can get. Read reviews about local restaurants in your area. Some require advanced booking so make sure you have all your corners covered. Make sure they server the meals he is especially fond of.

Football or baseball. Men are fond of sports, it is like their second love after their partner. Buy tickets for your father to go see a sport event in or around your area. If he is into sports, he will truly love you more for making it more than special event for him, plus you two get to bond and chat with each other.

Video Games. Wii and Xbox are still popular among households. If they have nice company to play with, they will go ahead and keep playing video games until they can. Spend quality time with your dad, winning and losing at the same time.

Make this Father’s Day a special one for him. Always remember how much he supported you and took care of you while you were growing up.

or in more details

“A significant decline in activity spread across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. It is visible in industrial production, employment, real income and wholesale-retail trade. The technical indicator of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country’s gross domestic product (GDP).”

What a common man can understand from this hi-fi definition?? Almost nothing?

Look at the following picture to realize what recession can be.

To avoid this situation save resources.

Twitter is one of the most widely used web interface to interact each other. So if you are a Twitter lover then you can check out the following different user interfaces that can surely make your Twitter experience better.

1. The Auto Complete Feature for Tweets

Auto complete can speed up the process of sending a tweet directed to a particular user using the
@username
format.

Another application of the auto complete feature is for suggesting
#hashtags
(keywords associated with a tweet) to make keyword-tagging of tweets easier.

2. Add Text Links in Tweets

You can easily adjust the hyper linked text in Twitters 140 character limited message.

3. Enable grouping of friends and followers

The ability to create groups (or categories) of Twitter users that you follow can reduce the noise in your Twitter feed and can help you immediately see updates from particular groups of users.

4. Add a Built-in URL shortener

One way to allow users to enter more text – without having to go to another website just to shorten URL’s – is to have a built-in URL-shortening feature. This would not only save user’s some time, but also eliminates the need to rely on other websites to perform an action that should really be handled within the system.

If you are one of those suffering from this strike, you can search this free site to search for car pooling and ridesharing options. I hope the strike gets over soon, and life comes back to normal.

Gone are the days when girls and guys would go to the club joints to seek out their potential mates. Life has become so fast these days that people have no time to sit back and relax, let alone dealing with the task of going out and seeking like minded people. Finding like minded people with whom they can share common interests has been made extremely easy with the latest trend of online dating.

Well, if not very traditional, online dating is very convenient. You can put up your profile, write your interests and hobbies, your qualifications, education and what you are looking for. Also add a picture or two, and you are good to go. Most of the websites offer registering for membership free or very insignificant cost. Registering is free but contacting somebody is not, most of the time, not all the time.

Online dating has an advantage over traditional dating that you can get comfortable with each other before actually starting to get serious. Online dating can help break the ice. Since you already have read the profile of the person you are interested in, you can talk about each others’ interests and hobbies.

There are many web sites that you can check out if you are in the market looking for that special someone.

Tomorrow, 4th November will decide the fate of US. New US Commander-in-Chief will be elected after tomorrow’s election. Next thing that comes to my mind is, what will be the headlines in the newspapers, online editorials and blogs tuesday onwards. It has been an exciting and anxious ride for all the people, let alone the presidential candidates. National TVs programs were all the more exciting. Watching Vice presidentail and presidential candidates making fun of themselves was fun to watch. NBC’s SNL had the highest viewership since many years on the episode where Sarah Palin appeared. She even beat the one with John McCain in it.

Presidential and vice presidential debates brought along so many discussions and arguments on the forums and discussion boards. Not too long ago, pranks were played on Sarah Palin bringing her in news again. John McCain performed really well in SNL. Big endorsements for either candidates. Blaming one another for negative campaigning and wrong associations. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Jon McCain and Sarah Palin dolls in the market. And many many more events occurred during this election.

This will be one historical election that won’t be forgotten very easily for the years to come. So yeah, I am going to miss reading the headlines in the blogs tomorrow onwards, and everyone will be back to normal life.

With internet in every house and little kids knowing their way around it, it is very convenient to sit behind the computer screen and expect your business to grow without face to face contacts with people. Believe it or not, word of mouth is still very effective way of marketing. It brings people the level of comfort knowing who they are dealing with. You need to know the people first instead of starting your selling pitch and expecting them to buy your products immediately. If you want your online business to get popular globally, you need to first make it popular locally. First off, make it a point to attend few events in your area locally.

Get comfortable: If this is your first time walking in the group of strangers, know that everybody else is feeling the same. Anxiety level is high for pretty much everyone who is attending the event for the first time, and they have the sole purpose the same as yours – social networking. So, hold yourself strong and be confident. Make yourself personable and easy to approach.

Talk casually: Keep in mind that you have one or other thing in common with someone else at the event. So, start by asking them a question about their business. Make it an interesting conversation for them. They will feel more at ease talking about what they care about. Find a common ground at that time, and talk about your business as well.

Come prepared: Make sure to carry your business cards with you. Prepare a brief outline of what you want to say or discuss. Keep a small notepad and pen so that you are ready whenever you run into someone important and you wish to write their contacts down.

Follow up: If you run into someone interesting and you brought back their contact information, make it a point to contact them later on. Not doing so may end up effecting your business negatively giving an impression of you not standing upto your promises.

Have Fun: If you are not enjoying what you are doing, you won’t get good results. This is true in business and in general. So, enjoy networking. Go out, have fun and show your best to your potential customers or partners.

If you follow some other networking techniques, feel free to share. Happy Networking!

I am still struggling to find that perfect gift for this sweetheart couple, but can’t really make up my mind. I wish to stay in my budget, and on the other hand get something that will satisfy both of us.

I have been making making excuses lately to make regular rounds to the shopping mall, and I did find something that would be perfect for the occasion, but the price tag kinda threw me away from buying it. My cousin suggested this afternoon to go shopping online. She suggested it is going to be inexpensive, and be of much value. I can find something local, so no shipping charges or scams should be expected.

I have been shopping around at craigslist classifieds, khrido classifieds and ebay. I am not sure if I find something locally at eBay, I still would need to get it shipped or the item can be pickled up.

Anyways, what do you suggest I do? Is shopping online a good idea?

Yesterday, I spoke with a friend after couple of years. It was nice to touch base after such a long time. Besides chitchatting about few things here and there, she informed me of this new trend popular among young generation.

Women who wish to carry the latest handbags or designer purses go shop online on Bag Borrow or Steal This cool site has been described as “Netflix for handbags”, she informed me. You can borrow hot handbags and sunglasses from popular brands like Loius Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Coach, Chanel and more. When I last checked, they have huge collection of handbags, vintage handbags, sunglasses and jewelery, and lots of color choices to choose from. Cool thing about the whole process is you get to keep each item for as long as you want, and then exchange it for something new! This one is a pretty cool trend that is catching on.

So, what did you think about presidential elections last night? The first presidential debate took place on 26th September ‘08 at University of Mississippi. It mainly focused on present financial crisis and foreign policy issues.

Speaking of the body language, Barack Obama ruled the international central stage. He was talking all figures and numbers, making it easy for an average american to understand the economics of the US. He promised voters the chance to study the federal budget and criticized John McCain for lack of technology experience.

John McCain, on the other hand referred to Obama’s lack of experience. He almost everytime started his points emphasizing on the words “he (Obama) does not undertand this, does not get that”, conveying that he (Obama) has not enough experience, and that his plans could be very dangerous for the country. He was mostly referring to his stories from yesteryears. He made points about his foreign policy experiences from the time in Veitnam and close ties with H Kissinger.

McCain kept addressing Obama as Senator Obama, ignoring the requests from moderator address Obama directly. Obama, on the other hand, was looking straight at the camera, addressing McCain as “John”, and addressing him directly.

Most media in the United States say the presidential debate between the candidates ended in a draw. Both of them did not make any blunders or surprise comments. Although, according to some television stations like CNN and CBS, Senator Barack Obama won this debate.
